Hi friends!

Welcome to my blog!! I’ve wanted to start a blog for a long time, so here we are. Buckle up because this will be a learning process for sure!

I want to start with a little introduction. I’m Gretchen. *wave* Among my peer group I’m often the one in LOTS of pink – pink hair, pink glasses, pink earrings, pink clothes, pink shoes, pink nail polish, pink make up (on the rare occasion I bother….). I’m the one who scans Yelp obsessively for the best local, independently owned, possibly semi-divey restaurant to eat at. I’m the one who is proud to spend an hour on Instagram looking at “OMG, this is the cutest puppy!!” pictures (although none are nearly as cute as my Luna.) I’m the one who sends you SNAIL MAIL (yes, actual greeting cards with real postage stamps sent via USPS) with stickers at random intervals. I love the beach, coffee (especially coffee shops), cooking and baking, and making art. I am a pharmacist, although I am not currently practicing. I keep up with what’s going on and am HUGELY passionate about working with older adults – they genuinely hold a special place in my heart. Much more to come as we go 🙂

I also want to share a bit about the URL (web site name). Those of you that know me have probably heard me talk about opening a bakery/mobile bakery/cafe some day. I have talked about this for YEARS (seriously, Facebook memories pop up often from 10-12 years ago/2008-2010 about this subject…) In one of my many brainstorming sessions about what that would look like I decided I needed a name. I wanted something that could go in various directions (some people say I’m indecisive *cough*myhusband*cough*), but also represented something culinary in nature. Sweet Teaspoon Cafe was born! Sweet because there will always be some type of sweet treat about my place. Teaspoon because it crosses across much of the culinary world. And Cafe…well, I think you get that one 🙂 This is still a dream of mine (more in a future post, can’t give you my whole life in the first entry), but has morphed over the years. I got the website domain in May of 2013! For now, it’s still on the 5-10 year plan!

So, there you have it. First entry complete. More to come. Thank you for being here — for giving me grace when this doesn’t show up correctly on your smart phone — for forgiving when I post something that makes you cringe (possibly my grammar, I’m notorious for changing tense within a piece) — and mostly for loving me no matter what (oh and share with your friends!)
